Nick Cannon Says, 'American Idol' Can't Afford Mariah Carey

With the recent departures of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler as American Idol judges and rumors of Randy Jackson also leaving, America is left wondering who will fill the empty judges chairs.

Rumor has it that Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and even the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin are being considered as possible judges. Charlie Sheen and Russell Simmons even said they'd be interested in joining the panel, according to ABC News.

Well, recently Nick Cannon, the current host of America's Got Talent, shared his thoughts on the rumors of his wife possibly joining American Idol. Nick told TMZ that American Idol bosses will have to double J.Lo's rumored $20 million salary if they want Mariah as a judge.

Joking or not he said to TMZ:

“I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey. That’s a lot of money. If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!"

Is it a chance it may happen?

Nick doesn't know, he said "I'm not her manager, I'm her husband... You never know, she's got an album coming out..."
